SONOGRAPHER
Natividad is currently seeking a temporary Per-Diem Sonographer to perform diagnostic medical procedures to determine OB/GYN, abdominal, and vascular conditions using ultrasound imaging modalities, medical apparatus and supplies.
Responsibilities include:
Examining patients using ultrasound equipment; planning exams by reviewing medical charts
Reviewing and evaluating results of exams and giving preliminary reports to the Radiologist
Organizing daily workload of the Ultrasound Department
Performing routine maintenance on complex electronic medical equipment used in ultrasonography
Performing correct infection control procedures on diagnostic equipment while scanning a patient
Selecting proper transducer and applying correct setting for each specific exam to optimize the images
Maintaining detailed records by completing sonographer’s findings accurately and completely, including applicable medical history in established timeframe
Following established protocols for scanning patients
Following critical findings policy by documenting and notifying appropriate provider
Utilizing images from previous exam as a reference for comparison
Using proper ergonomic position while using ultrasound equipment
Reviewing patient’s orders to ensure correct exam for patient complaint and clarifying the order with physician, if needed
Completing ultrasound exams within established timeframe
Requires successful completion of a course of study leading to certification as a registered sonographer AND/OR one year of experience working with patients in a hospital or clinic. Requires working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques used in ultrasonography; human anatomy and physiology necessary to perform ultrasound exams; medical terminology related to the administration and evaluation of ultrasound examinations and equipment; and electronic healthcare software and systems.
