Position Summary
Responsible for providing initial evaluations in addition to individual and group therapy at the Behavior Health Center and in the field. Provide behavioral health consultation services to care team within Substance Use Resource and Engagement Program (SURE) and clinic setting.
Required Qualifications
- Masters level education with current unencumbered LCSW California license.
- Two years experience providing clinic services in the behavioral health field.
- One year experience working people with substance abuse challenges or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
- Efficient time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and organizational needs.
- Excellent interpersonal communicate skills both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient using Outlook, MS Word and Excel.
- Familiar with Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, Client Centered theory, or willing to learn.
- Demonstrated commitment to the of services of the underserved and sensitivity working with a variety of people from low-income populations, with diverse educational, lifestyle, ethnic, and cultural origins.
- Commitment to HIPAA confidentiality rules and to abide by standards of professional ethics and maintain confidentiality. Must be adhere to 42CFR Part 2 rules.
- Crisis Intervention training or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire.
- Valid CPR Certification or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire.
- Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to, standard precautions of temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self-monitoring, masking and social distancing.
- Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.
- Must have valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- American Association of Psychiatric Technicians (AAPT) Certification preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
Essential Responsibilities
- Conduct rounds in the field, clinic location and provide treatment to patients.
- Provide behavioral emergency assistance such as de-escalation or basic first aid when needed and report homicidal or suicidal behaviors.
- Actively participate in staff meetings and huddles providing important patient information.
- Assist with admission, transfer and discharge. Maintain client case files with documents of the client’s progress and updates.
- Provide appropriate referral information to clients and the public for services and opportunities not provided by our agency (when applicable).
- Ensure complete and accurate and timely documentation is submitted within established timelines.
- Adhere to policies, procedures and process.
- Maintain confidentiality, ethics and professionalism in all aspects of the job.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations while also supporting adherence to Joint Commission requirements.
- Identify issues/emergencies appropriately and problem solve for resolution.
- Ability to use electronic health record.
- Promote a physically and emotionally safe environment, including conducting regular rounds.
- Adherence to infection control procedures, including but not limited to, standard precautions of temperature monitoring, hand washing, symptom self-monitoring, masking and social distancing.
- Assist and support the Center/Department/Program to meet standards of High Reliability.
- Other additional duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
The work environment is characteristic of a medical clinic environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to handle, or feel. The employee is also required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
The employee may be in contact with individuals and families in crisis who may be ill, using substances and/or not attentive to personal health and safety for themselves or their homes. The employee may experience a number of unpleasant sensory demands associated with the client’s use of alcohol and drugs, and the lack of personal care. The employee may also be exposed to bodily fluids (blood, urine) and hazardous chemicals.
